Yes, folks, it's time for our official Neighborhood Association annual meeting, with the election
of new members on your Board. We have a great agenda and some special speakers, so check the
Meetings & Events link on the upper right of this page for more information.
If you would like to
serve on the Board for a two-year term, please email Opie and let us know. The Board meets about
six times a year and plans the meetings and events, makes a budget, publishes the Newsletters. and
supports our schools.
This year, Independence Day fell on a Sunday, and we had a really great birthday party.
We had a visiting artist creating original face-painting, plenty of (temporary) tattoos,
lots of helium balloons for anyone and every bicycle, and a grand parade through part of the
neighborhood. Then we all returned to Osuna Park for sodas, water, frozen "otter-pops", ice cream,
more balloons, patriotic music, treats, and just plain fellowship in the shade of the Park's trees
on a hot day And it was all free, supported by your dues.

OPNA membership is steady but plateaued at about 150 members - including 9 business members, our highest number - and we really need more of our neighbors to support your Neighborhood Association with their dues. Your dues help keep this web site up, publish our newsletters to all and email announcements to members who have email, provide refreshments and door prizes at the meetings, and pay for the announcement signs at the major intersections before events. We thank our members for their support, and we hope we are providing the service you need. Please contact Opie at the email link on this web page to ask a question, offer advice and support, or provide an alert.
New Mexico commuters and interstate travelers can find weather-related road conditions, construction and congestion information by dialing 5-1-1. The 511 service is part of a growing, nationwide program to provide consistent and reliable traveler information. The new 511 service replaces the old 1-800 line. Information also will continue to be provided at the New Mexico Roads interactive website.
The City's Solid Waste Division has placed a complete recycling drop-off center in the parking lot of First Family Church, 4701 Wyoming NE. This is on the west side of Wyoming, just opposite OPNA territory. It will accommodate everything that curbside recycling trucks ordinarily pick up, including glass. There is another one further away, near the Reynolds aluminum recycling truck on the southwest corner loop of Menaul just west of Eubank. Let's use them!
