Why Volunteer?
"Volunteerism" - Performing an act of kindness, freely giving of your talent, time, and
effort for the simple fulfillment of community expectations.
Current members and future members of the OPNA: Your neighborhood needs your help! The OPNA is gaining more members every month. As of this year, we have about 140 paid residential memberships. But that is only 15% of the 870 homes within our boundaries!
A household annual membership is $12. We have raised nearly all of our funds from individual memberships. What does the OPNA Board do with this money? It is used to print newsletters, to construct signs notifying the neighborhood of upcoming meetings and events, and to provide refreshments to attendees. Additionally, once OPNA has enough members, we will have sufficient funds to start performing permanent physical improvements throughout our neighborhood. Initial ideas include signs identifying our boundaries and welcoming folks into the neighborhood, and beautifying the corners of those selected areas. What does the OPNA Board NOT do with this money? We do not hire or pay anyone to distribute newsletters because we are volunteers. We do not pay ourselves for the time and effort we are willing to contribute to keep the Association functioning.
How You Can Help
What do we need from you, the paid members? While we appreciate your annual $12, we could also use some volunteers to assist the Board in the following areas:
- Newsletter distribution (quarterly)
- Set-up and take-down for meetings and planned events
- Distribution of flyers with information on an "as needed" basis
- Involvement as an event planning member
- Participation at events as a volunteer

the most rewarding and productive neighborhood associations in Albuquerque, and help us
